In my Fine Art practice I have employes several different art forms, traditional Chinese brush painting, oil painting, watercolour, drawing, print making and contemporary installation practice. I am also papermaker and sometimes take part in performance art.
The natural environment around me has given me a lot of inspiration. At the moment, print and Chinese brush painting are the form which I choose to express my ideas of living surroundings.
My strong connection with my roots in Taiwan, has deeply influenced my artistic practice. In June 2016, by special invitation I visited Jiling Art College, China, which gave me an opportunity to learn Contemporary Chinese woodcut printing, which has further enhanced my personal skills.
I have studied Fine Art at the National Taiwan University of Arts, and was awarded a PhD in Fine Arts by Newcastle University. After graduating, I worked as a freelance Artist and Instructor of Chinese Brush Painting, printmaker and also a paper maker. I have exhibited at group and solo exhibitions in various parts of the country including the RA Summer Exhibition 2018, Chinese Arts Centre Manchester, Alnwick, Leavens Hall Cumbria, Newcastle Arts Centre, Edinburgh, New York and Taipei. I regularly exhibit my Chinese brush painting at the Cambridge Drawing Society where I am a member and also during the annual Cambridge Open Studios. I have also received a “Spotlight” Award from the Arts Council.
